Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why Do I Need A Public Adjuster?

You probably use a financial advisor to invest. You probably use a CPA to do your taxes. If you go to court, you probably use an attorney. When you have a claim, you use a Public Adjuster. A PA will "level out" the insurance claim “fairness” scale and protect you, the policyholder. State governments realize that insurance claims are overwhelming and often unfair, so they license public adjusters to help policyholders during the claim process.

  • When Should I Hire A Public Adjuster?

Many of our clients decide to hire us at the beginning to accurately document and handle the entire claim process. The rest of our clients wait for the insurance adjuster to make the first offer and then we get hired to get the rest of what should be paid. Lastly, if your claim has been denied, you can also utilize a public adjsuter. It is ideal to properly document all of your losses before any cleanup or repair process begins.

  • Does A Public Adjuster Increase My Settlement?

According to a government accountability analysis conducted by OPPAGA, an office within the state legislature, their review found that using a public adjuster resulted in an average of a 747% higher payout compared to filing a claim without using a public adjuster.

Over a two-year span of reviewing claims, a study showed that claims with a public adjuster nearly DOUBLED the payouts compared to what was offered by the insurance company alone.

As you are already aware, no two claims are identical as each claim is adjusted based on its own specific loss and damages. When the insurance company agrees to the payout amount, it means they approved it.

  • How Does A Public Adjuster Help Me?

We meet with you, inspect all of your damages, document your damages, scope your loss, answer your questions, meet with the insurance company adjuster, present your damages, negotiate and adjust your claim, and continue to assist you during the entire process.

By being proactive, we will tell your insurance company what you are entitled to instead of waiting to see what the insurance company is going to do. Our experienced team assesses each aspect of the loss including the property, contents, other structures, loss of income, other damages, and so much more. We represent you and work hard to get you everything you are entitled to under the language of your insurance contract.

  • How does a Public Adjuster charge?

A public adjuster should be an asset instead of an expense. We offer a free damage inspection and policy review to help you understand if using a public adjuster is right for you. There are many factors that change the specific fee amount, but your claim fee will be clearly discussed and written into the agreement before you sign it. Our job is to leave you in a better situation and more money in your pocket.

  • What Is A Fiduciary?

A public adjuster is a fiduciary to you, the policyholder. This means we have the highest level of ethics to do what is financially the best for you. Nobody else involved in your claim will have this same level of engagement. The insurance adjuster is also a fiduciary, but ONLY to benefit the insurance company they work for.

  • How Does A Public Adjuster Get Paid?

First, we offer a free no-pressure initial claim review, policy review, and site inspection to see how we can help. If we decide to work together then a simple contract is signed. Our pay comes directly from the money the insurance company awards for your claim, so there is never any out of pocket costs for our services. Our small fee percentage is based on many factors including the type of claim(s), the size of the scope, when we get involved, and more. Even if you don't hire us, we are still happy to offer our free initial review.

  • Is a Public Adjuster Regulated?

Yes, a PA is regulated by the state they are licensed to operate in. PA’s must study and pass the state insurance exam, be bonded, pass background checks, and have no felony record. It is much harder to become a public adjuster than it is to become an insurance adjuster or an independent adjuster. Ironically, only a public adjuster (not an insurance adjuster) is required by the state to be licensed to adjust claims.

  • Who Is Adjuster4you?

We are based in Kansas City area and have been helping the public process insurance claims since the late '90s. We have served thousands of clients and would be honored to serve you, too. Our experience, willingness to educate, friendly approach, attention to detail, thorough documentation, precise estimating, professional network, and ability to communicate well puts us at the top of the list to serve you well.

  • Do I Need To Accept The Insurance Offer?

Even if you accpet the offer does NOT mean the claim is settled or finalized. We can help protect and uphold the insurance company’s obligation to make proper payments. Under the State’s Insurance Department regulations, you have the right to receive a fair adjustment to your claim. You are not obligated to accept an unfair or low-ball offer from the insurance company.

  • If I Already Have A Settlement, What Can I Do?

Even if you have already been paid does NOT mean the claim is settled. You should have a public adjuster review your claim. If they feel your claim was underpaid, then you can engage the PA to help you get what is fair.

  • What Is My Role If I Hire A Public Adjuster?

A public adjuster will handle the claim process for you. It will be necessary for you to provide the PA with the information they request. Oftentimes, the insurance company will require a recorded statement from the policyholder before any payment is issued. It is also necessary to comply with the language in the policy which the PA will assist you with. Other than that, you should be able to get back to "normal" while the PA handles the claim.
